Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Friday busted a drug manufacturing unit running from the rooftop of a house in Jodhpur and seized over 3kg of MD drugs worth Rs 3 crore, along with large quantities of hazardous chemicals, exposing a covert operation that supplied narcotics across the region.Additional DGP Dinesh MN identified the accused as 40-year-old Ganpatram Beniwal, who allegedly converted his house into an illegal drug lab to repay a debt of Rs 12 lakh. Acting on intelligence, the AGTF arrested him from the spot and uncovered a setup designed to scale up production to nearly 60kg of MD. Dinesh said that teams from AGTF, ATS, DST and local police moved in under cover of darkness and surrounded the house located in a secluded area. Officers stormed the rooftop and found MD spread out on a mattress, drying under electric bulbs, while drums filled with chemicals and heating equipment lay scattered across the site.Police recovered 3.055kg of finished MD drugs, estimated to be worth Rs 3 crore in the international market, along with 55.725kg of chemicals, including dichloromethane and other substances used in drug synthesis. Equipment such as electric stoves, buckets, steel utensils and drying materials were also seized. Investigators said Beniwal struck a deal with Sanchore-based smugglers, identified as Asuram alias Lucky and Bhanu, to manufacture drugs in exchange for clearing his debt. The scale of chemicals recovered indicates a plan to produce at least 60kg more MD, which could have flooded the market.Police are now tracking the supply chain and financial links, with a wider crackdown likely on networks operating across western Rajasthan.
