Jaipur: Rain lashed different parts of the city on Thursday late afternoon as commuters waded through knee-deep water on most of the important roads and streets. Many parts of Jaipur city experienced heavy rain, leading to waterlogging on roads and affecting traffic flow. Heavy rainfall was witnessed in several other districts including Kota, Banswara, Jalore, Bundi, Jhalawar, Tonk, Bhilwara, and Pali. Water also flooded the govt hospital in Bundi and the Shahpura police post in Bhilwara. In Banswara, a tractor and its driver was swept away in a river, and the search for them is on. Jhalawar experienced its first heavy monsoon rain at 11am, causing the roads to overflow. In Jalore, there was intermittent good rainfall for about 20 minutes around 6am Thursday. The district received an average of 6.7mm of rain in the last 24 hours.Bharatpur received a rainfall of 80mm, highest in the state. Except for western Rajasthan, including Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur, the southwest monsoon has covered almost every part of the state. Bharatpur was followed by Deeg, where a rainfall of 60mm was recorded, Tatgarh (Ajmer) 50mm, Raipur (Pali) 40mm, Mount Abu (Sirohi) 30mm, and rainfall varying from 10mm to 20mm was recorded at many places in the state.Attributing the monsoon rainfall to the higher humidity level, the MeT office said that the rainfall activity is likely to continue at many places in the state in the coming days. The MeT office, Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate and occasionally heavy rain in 28 districts Friday. In the past 24 hours, there has been significant rainfall in several districts including Jhalawar, Kota, Baran, Bundi, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Tonk, Jaipur, Ajmer, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, and Banswara. In Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Bikaner, and Sriganganagar, the maximum temperature was recorded above 40°C. Jaisalmer was the hottest Thursday, with a maximum temperature of 44.6°C. A minimum temperature of 26.4°C and a maximum of 34.6°C was recorded in Jaipur.
