‘Reverify disability’: RPSC tells special candidates appearing for RAS interview

Ajmer: After disqualifying 524 candidates appearing in various exams for submitting fake disability and other certificates, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has ordered such differently abled candidates, appearing for the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) interview, to get the extent of their disability reverified by a medical board.Interviews to appoint the 2024 batch of RAS officials began Monday. The move was in compliance with a ministry of social justice and empowerment circular dated Nov 24, which makes verification of disability certificates mandatory, RPSC officials said.“Both Unique Disability IDs (UDIDs) and certificates of disability will be verified,” said RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta. “The personnel department had issued a similar notification on Aug 25, calling for extra vigilance on candidates applying under the disabled category,” he said.Of the 524 candidates against whom the RPSC has initiated action for fake or forged documents, 415 have been permanently debarred, while 109 have been banned from appearing in RPSC exams for five years.Commission officials said anyone found submitting a forged document will be liable for legal action. “After the RPSC first formed medical boards to reverify disability percentages for RAS interviews in 2023, many candidates moved applications requesting their names be moved from the disabled category to general,” Mehta said.“Many candidates, who were found to have submitted fake or forged disability certificates, are already working in various govt departments, and we have written to their respective superiors demanding action,” he said.
