Kota/Jaipur: School education and panchayati raj minister Madan Dilawar Saturday announced that the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), Ajmer, will offer students two opportunities to appear for Class 10 and 12 board examinations in an academic session starting 2026-27.Dilawar made the announcement while addressing a public function in Ganesh Nagar, Kota city. He said that all students will be required to appear in the first board examination, while those who qualify will have the option to reappear in up to three subjects in the second attempt to improve their scores. The first main examination will be held in Feb–March, followed by the second opportunity examination in May–June of the same academic year. Both exams will cover the complete syllabus and the study and examination plans will remain the same.Students absent in the main exam will be allowed to appear in the second opportunity only if they provide a valid medical certificate or authorisation from the district education officer (secondary).Students who get ‘supplementary’ (eligible for improvement) in the exam results will be permitted to appear for the second exam in a maximum of three subjects, including the supplementary ones. “If a student fails in the first examination, he/she will be allowed to reappear in the failed subjects in the second attempt. However, those who still fail in the second opportunity will be placed in the repeat category and can appear only in the main examination of the following academic year,” Dilawar explained. The examination fee for both attempts will remain the same and the “best of two attempts” policy will be applied — meaning the higher marks obtained in either attempt will be counted in the final result. “This reform aims to reduce exam stress, give students flexibility and align Rajasthan’s education system with the progressive goals of NEP-2020,” Dilawar added.
