Jaipur: Palash Barber of Rajasthan has been selected in the Indian team for the inaugural 2026 SAFF Futsal Championship slated to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from January 13 to 26.Udaipur’s Palash will be a part of the 14-member Indian squad. The youngster will play as a pivot in the side. Reza Kordi will be the head coach.
The All India Football Federation organised a month-long training camp for the team in Bengaluru last month.Rajasthan Football Association (RFA) secretary Dilip Singh Shekhawat said that it is a matter of pride for the entire state that Palash became the first player from the region to be selected in the Indian futsal team.Palash’s father, Kanhaiya Barber, was also a national football player and works as a physical education teacher in the education department in Udaipur. The RFA president Manvendra Singh Jasol, Rajasthan Women Football chairperson Roshni Tak, treasurer Kailash Khatik, Udaipur District Football secretary Shakeel Ahmed, and all the office bearers and former players of the association congratulated Palash for his national selection.
