Jaipur: Rajasthan’s junior girls kabaddi team gave a brilliant and memorable performance and won the bronze medal in the 51st Junior National Kabaddi Championship 2025 held from December 25 to 28 in Kolkata, the capital of Bengal.Amidst tough matches, strong rivals and intense competition, the girls of Rajasthan reached the semi-finals and proved that the daughters of the state have top level talent on the national kabaddi stage.Rajasthan Kabaddi Association president Tejaswi Singh Gehlot said that the Rajasthan team started its campaign in a very aggressive manner in the competition.In the first match, the girls from Rajasthan made a great start to the competition by defeating the team from Orissa by a huge margin of (73-17) 56 points in a completely one-sided match.In this match, Rajasthan’s fast raiding and strong defense did not give any chance to the opposing team.Rajasthan then faced the strong and experienced Himachal Pradesh team in the second league match. In a closely contested outing, Rajasthan’s players displayed excellent strategy, composure, and confidence, defeating Himachal 40-32.Rajasthan played its last pool match against Jammu and Kashmir, in which the team maintained dominance from start to end and registered a spectacular 44-17 victory.With three consecutive wins, the Rajasthan side secured the first position in its pool and made a strong claim for the knockout stage.The teams of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh faced each other in the pre-quarterfinals played after the pool stage.This match proved to be the most exciting match of the tournament, where amidst a close contest, Rajasthan team showed great composure in the last moments and defeated Uttar Pradesh (35-32) by 3 points and entered the quarter finals.In the quarter final match, Rajasthan faced the team of Chhattisgarh.In this match, the girls of Rajasthan displayed excellent coordination, fast pace and aggressive game and defeated Chhattisgarh by a huge margin of (52-26) 26 points and ensured their place in the semi-finals.In the semi-final, Rajasthan faced a strong and experienced Haryana team. Despite a tough fight, Haryana capitalized on their experience and won the match 40-28=12.However, despite this defeat in the semi-finals, the Rajasthan team made the state proud by winning the bronze medal in the competition.Throughout the tournament, Rajasthan team’s left corner player Nikita attracted everyone’s attention by displaying excellent defense.For her excellent performance, she was awarded the prestigious title of “Best Defender of the Tournament”.Along with this, Rajasthan’s Vasundhra, Palak and Krishna also contributed significantly to the team’s success by performing impressively in every match.Coach Surjan Chaudhary played a crucial role in this historic achievement for the Rajasthan team.
