Raj state varsities miss top NIFR rankings; BITS Pilani 16th

Jaipur: No state govt institution from Rajasthan has featured in the Top 100 in India in the latest National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings released by the Union education ministry Thursday.With over 28 universities, Rajasthan has the second highest number of state universities in the country.Among private varsities, BITS Pilani improved from 23rd position last year to the 16th spot this year. Among the Top 100 institutes, IIT Jodhpur ranked 66th, MNIT Jaipur 77th, and Manipal University Jaipur 98th. BITS Pilani ranked 7th nationwide, Manipal University Jaipur 58th, Banasthali Vidyapith 66th, and Central University of Rajasthan secured the 89th position. Under the category of State Public Universities, an assessment exclusively for govt institutions, no Rajasthan university secured a position in the top 50. Only Mohanlal Sukhadia University in Udaipur and Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, also in Udaipur, were placed in the 51-100 rank band.Among management institutes, IIM Udaipur ranked 21st, improving from its rank 22 last year. Among medical institutes, AIIMS Jodhpur fell three spots from 16 to 19. SMS Medical College advanced from 43 to 39th spot this year.
