Jaipur: Rajasthan has once again emerged as the driving force behind India’s rising mustard production, as the country records a notable growth of around 3.5% in mustard output for the rabi 2025-26 season, according to estimates released by the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India.India’s total mustard production is projected to reach 119.4 lakh tonnes, up from 115.2 lakh tonnes last year, reflecting steady expansion in acreage and modest gains in productivity. The total cultivated area has increased to 93.91 lakh hectares, while average yields have improved to 1,271 kg per hectare, indicating productivity gains.Rajasthan continues to dominate mustard production nationally. The state’s output is estimated at 53.9 lakh tonnes, up from 52 lakh tonnes last year, marking a growth of nearly 3.6%. The rise is attributed to increased acreage, which expanded from 34.74 lakh hectares to 35.77 lakh hectares, along with marginal improvements in yield.TNN
