Jaipur: The hospitality sector is witnessing robust occupancy levels of 80%–85% as the year-end approaches, driven largely by domestic leisure travel, weddings, and weekend getaways. The festive mood, however, is tempered by a noticeable drop in foreign tourist arrivals.Hoteliers said room tariffs, an indicator of demand, remain stagnant compared to last year. They cite intensified competition from other destinations as a key factor for this. Leading tourist hubs such as Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Udaipur are nearing full occupancy, however, while destinations like Pushkar and Kumbhalgarh are awaiting the last-minute surge in bookings.Ranvijay Singh, senior vice-president of Hotel Federation of Rajasthan, said, “Occupancy in city hotels is currently in the range of 80%–85% and is expected to rise further as the year-end nears. However, such high occupancies during this season are typical.”Singh added that despite the demand, hotels were unable to raise rates. “The incremental demand required to push tariffs higher is missing this year,” he said.In Jaisalmer, properties both large and small are reporting near 100% occupancy. “This season is dominated by domestic tourists. Travel connectivity has improved, and we are seeing strong inflows from UP and MP as well,” said Jitendra Singh Rathore, co-chairman of PHDCCI-Rajasthan.
