Jaipur: A division bench of the Rajasthan High Court Monday granted an interim stay on the single bench’s Aug 28 order that directed the state govt to cancel the 2021 sub-inspector recruitment exam over mass paper leak. The bench, however, clarified that the stay on postings of those recruited through the SI exam would continue.While issuing a notice to the state govt, the bench sought its response and raised concerns about how a confidential report from the Rajasthan police’s special operations group (SOG) chief VK Singh became public.The SOG has been probing the exam paper leak case. The matter will be heard again on Oct 8.The division bench of justices Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Sanjeet Purohit heard three appeals filed by over 120 successful candidates, including Amar Singh, Vikram Panwar and Payal Sharma, who took the exam.During the proceedings, senior counsel RN Mathur, representing some of the petitioners, argued that the selection of candidates was not solely dependent on the written exam, which has been tainted by allegations of malpractice. He emphasised that candidates also underwent a rigorous physical test, conducted by senior police officials, as well as an interview involving an IG rank officer, a psychologist and a member of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). Mathur contended that these assessment stages were not compromised and, therefore, cancelling the entire exam based on the actions of a few would be unjust.
