Jaisalmer: Five individuals including the main accused were arrested Tuesday night in connection with a deer poaching case wherein two deer carcasses were found stuffed in plastic bags under a culvert in Aagor village, Chauhatan in Barmer district on May 30. Forest and police teams arrested five suspects after questioning 25 individuals. The forest department has filed a case and launched a detailed investigation. Following the arrests, wildlife enthusiasts, who had launched a sit-in protest Friday evening, called off their agitation. The arrested suspects include Malaram, and Nandlal, both from Antia Chauhatan. Others held are Sawairam, Prabhakar Rao, and Sarooparam, all residents of Chauhatan. A torch and wooden stick used in the poaching were recovered. Officials said all five are habitual wildlife offenders. TNN
