Prisoner flees from open jail in Ajmer

Ajmer: A prisoner fled from the open jail in Ajmer, prompting the jail administration to register a case at the Civil Lines police station. The incident came to light Wednesday night when he was not found during the roll call. The prisoner has been identified as Babu Khan (47), a resident of Barmer. According to police, Khan was arrested in a theft case. “The prisoner was shifted to Ajmer on Sept 22 from Jodhpur jail. He went out from the cell but did not return. During the roll call, he was not found, and the jail administration tried to locate him but failed. They later registered a case at the police station.” The police said they contacted the prisoner’s family, but they had no information about his whereabouts. “We are looking for him and contacting his friends and other relatives. We are also checking the CCTV cameras at the bus stand and railway station to track the movements of the accused. The open jail in Ajmer is for those prisoners who have a good record in jail. They can go out during the day to work and return to their cells in the evening.” tnn
