Jaipur: Pregnant women in Rajasthan will now be able to undergo free sonography at private centres if the service is unavailable in govt hospitals, deputy chief minister Prem Chand Bairwa told the Assembly on Tuesday.Bairwa said, “If sonography is not available in govt facilities, a QR code-based voucher (under the Maa Voucher Yojana), is issued to pregnant women in their second and third trimesters. With this voucher, they can get free sonography at authorised private centres.”He said 1,363 private sonography centres across the state have been empanelled under the scheme. “Payments to these centres are made directly into their bank accounts by the state govt, ensuring transparency and timely service delivery,” he added.Highlighting the scheme’s rollout, the Bairwa added, “The vouchers remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue, and in case they are not used, validity can be extended by another 30 days at a medical institution.”Replying to a query by BJP Sojat MLA Shobha Chauhan, Bairwa said between Sept 17, 2024, and Sept 4, 2025, a total of 583 sonographies were conducted through five authorised private centres in Sojat. Additionally, 1,804 free sonographies were carried out at the Sojat district hospital under the Free Diagnostics Scheme,” he said.
