JAIPUR: Two police personnel were suspended on Sunday for alleged negligence in handling a molestation case involving a pregnant woman in the Malviya Nagar area in Jaipur.Assistant sub-inspector Mahesh Chand and head constable Angadram, who was the initial investigating officer, were suspended with immediate effect. Departmental proceedings were also initiated against them.Police said the action follows an incident reported on March 25, in which a woman alleged that a man molested her in a lane near Sector 9 in Malviya Nagar.According to the complaint, the accused approached her from behind around 6.10 pm, grabbed her and touched her inappropriately before fleeing the spot.Officials further said that when the woman raised an alarm, the accused threatened her with a stone and escaped.A case was registered at Jawahar Circle police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the probe was later handed over to the station house officer.Police formed multiple teams, including the District Special Team (DST), to trace the accused.Investigators examined CCTV footage covering nearly a 3-km radius around the crime scene, prepared a route map and used technical inputs to identify the suspect.Teams were dispatched to arrest the accused and a person suspected of providing him shelter.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
