Bhilwara: Begun police in Chittorgarh seized 48.95 kg of illegal poppy husk from an abandoned car on Kota-Chittorgarh highway Wednesday.Chittorgarh SP Sudhir Joshi said all police stations and the district special team have been directed to intensify the crackdown on narcotics. Acting on these instructions, a team led by Begun SHO Shivlal Meena set up a blockade near Gorla Suratpura. During the blockade, a white Swift car approaching from Katunda side was signalled to stop. The driver tried to flee but police used a stop stick to puncture the tyre. The occupants abandoned the vehicle and escaped.A search of the car led to the recovery of nearly 49 kg of poppy husk packed in three sacks. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered. tnn
