Jaipur: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of failing to honour a key election promise, alleging that several welfare schemes launched under the previous Congress govt were discontinued or weakened in the state.Gehlot said Modi assured voters that no Congress-era scheme would be stopped if the BJP came to power. “The promise was made to secure votes, but was not implemented,” he said.In the 20th chapter of his social media series “Intezaar Shastra,” Gehlot claimed that the BJP-led state govt has gone against the PM’s assurance. He described the alleged discontinuation and modification of welfare programmes as a “well-planned conspiracy” driven by political vendetta.“‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ has turned out to be an electoral jumla. Nineteen chapters of Intezaar Shastra stand witness that the promise was nothing but deception,” Gehlot said, adding that public welfare initiatives created during the Congress regime are being “deliberately neglected.”Gehlot also said several projects initiated during his tenure remain incomplete. He said he was raising these issues consistently through his campaign. “People are not getting pensions; treatment is not available, and distress is visible across the state,” he said.Gehlot also targeted the current state leadership, alleging a lack of governance and oversight. “The CM is busy with tours. When will he work and assess the govt? The ground reality is completely different,” he said, warning that ignoring public concerns could lead to political consequences.
