Pilot questions EC role amid SIR process concerns

Bhilwara: Congress national general secretary and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot Saturday voiced criticism against the central govt regarding the handling of suspected infiltrators and the election commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Speaking during a two-day tour in Tonk district, Pilot said the election commission’s role was to ensure voting rights for citizens above 18 and not the determining citizenship of anyone. “There is talk of expelling infiltrators and cutting names in SIR, but I challenge the govt to reveal how many infiltrators have been expelled in the last 11 years,” he said. Highlighting the alleged pressure faced by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) due to the SIR, Pilot called for a fair and impartial approach to voter list management, ensuring that all eligible citizens are included.
