Kota: Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot expressed confidence that his party will take advantage of the ongoing infighting within the BJP and secure a victory for their candidate, Pramod Jain Bhaya, in the Anta bypoll slated for Nov 11.Speaking to reporters at Kota airport Wednesday, on his way to campaign for Bhaya, Pilot highlighted the significance of the by-election, emphasising that it serves as a referendum on the performance of the ruling BJP govt after two years in power. Pilot remarked, “The state govt has completed two years of its tenure and the people have assessed its functioning. In this by-election, the electorate will deliver a verdict on the failures, betrayal of faith and the overall passiveness of the BJP govt during this period.” Pointing out that Anta is a constituency historically represented by former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Pilot claimed that internal discord within the BJP regarding ticket distribution would benefit the Congress party in this contest. “The entirety of the Congress team is fully dedicated to our candidate at every level and we are receiving robust support from all segments of the community,” Pilot asserted. He also addressed the candidacy of former Congress member Naresh Meena, now running as an independent, stating that in a by-election, it is commonplace for individuals to contest as they wish, but ultimately, it is the voters who will decide. Adding to the narrative, Pilot framed the Anta bypoll as more than just a local election, characterizing it as a battle between two contrasting ideologies: those espoused by the BJP and the Congress. His comments come against the backdrop of the Bihar assembly elections, where he claimed to have observed a shift in public sentiment. “Whispers of change are present in almost all districts of Bihar,” he noted, indicating a strong performance for the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ alliance and suggesting that the BJP is struggling as the campaign progresses.” Pilot said that no one was heard saying that Nitish Kumar would be the next chief minister, highlighting that it’s the same old tactic of the BJP showing someone else’s face while attempting to seize power for itself.
