Jaipur: Phalodi police Monday arrested two men and seized 4.03 kg of MDMA and 40g of opium worth over Rs 8 crore during a joint search operation at Shivpuri border.Phalodi SP Kundan Kanwariya said the accused were identified as Deena Ram Bhadu (31) and Sharavn Kumar Manju, 30. A constable from the district special team (DST) tipped off police that the duo was transporting drugs in a car. The vehicle was intercepted by a joint team of DST Phalodi and Lohawat police, and the contraband was recovered. The car was also impounded. “Both accused were booked under the NDPS Act at Lohawat police station. Further investigation is being carried out by SHO Matoda,” Kanwariya said.Kanwariya added that Manju is a member of the notorious 007 gang and has two previous cases of robbery and attempted murder registered at Lohawat and Matoda police stations. “The two were engaged in drug trafficking out of greed for quick money. They procured MDMA from Balotra to supply in Lohawat and Phalodi,” he said.Sources said the preliminary probe indicated links to a Mumbai-based cartel, with the consignment meant for distribution both in Rajasthan and in other states. “We are trying to establish the first chain of suppliers connected with the accused,” Kanwariya told TOI.
