Jaipur: A 35-year-old patient, who recently underwent a kidney transplant, died after jumping from the sixth floor of the Super Speciality Block at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital Thursday morning. Police later identified the deceased as Hansram Jat, a native of Tonk.ACP (Gandhi Nagar) Narayan Kumar Bajiya said Jat leapt from a sixth-floor window of the building and fell directly into the porch below, sustaining severe injuries.The fall caused fear at the hospital, though the porch was empty at the time. Blood was found spread across the porch area after the incident. Police suspect the patient may have been distressed due to prolonged illness. After the incident, security guards and others rushed him to the trauma centre, where doctors declared him dead after examination. An official said he was earlier admitted to the nephrology department for treatment.Sources said the kidney transplant was performed about three months ago, and hospital staff reported his health to be stable initially. However, about a month ago, he reported to have some complications. Police said they are yet to speak to doctors to ascertain the exact nature of these complications.An official said a family member donated a kidney to Jat. The family told police they were worried about his prolonged illness and the financial burden associated with the treatment, but the deceased never explicitly spoke about it. Jat’s family members, including his father, were present with him in the hospital. Some time before the incident, he was seen strolling around the hospital campus. After a while, he left the ward without informing anyone and jumped from the building.
