Jaipur: Deputy chief minister Diya Kumari Tuesday reviewed Khatu Shyam Ji corridor development project, focusing on traffic management, parking space creation, and removal of encroachments around the temple and town area.A special committee was constituted to provide suggestions for resolving traffic congestion, parking and encroachment issues and for improving overall tourist facilities. The committee will include representatives from stakeholder groups, including the temple management, civic bodies, traders’ associations, and local administration. “Development works will be carried out in consultation with local residents, public representatives, and key stakeholders to make them more effective and inclusive,” she said. Kumari, who also holds the tourism portfolio, said that Khatu Shyam Ji is one of the state’s most visited pilgrimage destinations and attracts the highest number of tourists in the state, making it both “a matter of pride and a major administrative responsibility.” The corridor, inspired by the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Ayodhya Ram Temple, will be developed at a cost of Rs 87.87 crore to provide world-class amenities and streamline the movement of lakhs of devotees. She also indicated that the state govt may allocate funds for the corridor’s development in the upcoming state Budget. “The state and central govts are committed to ensuring that pilgrims’ experiences are smooth, grand, and well-facilitated through modern infrastructure,” she said. Officials said the project will also boost the local economy, benefiting vendors, dhabas, hotels, and artisans, and create jobs in construction, security, and tourism services. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the tourism department, PWD, Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation, PDCore, district administration, temple committee members, and local representatives. The corridor is being developed as a key component of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, aimed at upgrading India’s pilgrimage and spiritual tourism circuits with improved amenities, accessibility, and sustainable infrastructure.
