Over 6L RTE applications, with 11 from third gender

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s education department has received 6.2 lakh applications this year for Right to Education (RTE) admissions in private schools, in the lottery issued Thursday by education minister Madan Dilawar.For the first time, the department also released data on transgender students selected for admission process.Dilawar said admissions under RTE are being conducted “in a transparent and systematic manner”, ensuring that eligible children get admission to schools in a time-bound way and that the benefits reach underprivileged sections of society.Of the 6.2 lakh applicants, 3.3 lakh were boys, 2.9 lakh were girls and 11 were transgender students.Parents can check the school-wise order of preference by logging into the Rajasthan Private School Portal, www.rajpsp.nic.in, using their Application ID and mobile number.Parents can change their school selection order, or choice filling, till March 16. The first phase of school allotment will be held on March 17, with document verification from March 17 to March 25.Officials said the second phase of allotment will be conducted on April 7. Document verification in this phase will be held from April 7 to April 13, while related grievances will be addressed from April 7 to April 20.If needed, the allotment process for the remaining vacant seats will move to a final phase. In this phase, application submission and document verification will begin on April 22, and related grievances will be resolved between April 22 and April 30.This year, 36,424 schools in the state were eligible for admission under RTE. No online application was received for 3,287 schools.
