Kota: In a major crackdown against illegal trafficking of drugs, Kota (rural) police confiscated 303.12kg of ganja from a car during checking of vehicles at Dara Ki Naal under Modak police station in Kota district in late Sunday night. Police also arrested two inter-state smugglers and seized two luxury cars, including the one escorting the smugglers’ car. However, the occupants in the escort car managed to flee.The seized drug, loaded from Andhra Pradesh, is estimated to be worth Rs. 1.51 crore in the market. The two accused were identified as Naresh Dhakad (47) and Saif Ali (28), both residents of Bijoliya in Bhilwara district, S.P. Kota (rural) Sujeet Shankar said.The seized drug is estimated to be worth Rs. 1.51 crore in the international market, he added. A minute earlier, another luxury car had passed by, dodging the police team. However, the occupants in the car, noticing the police chase, left the vehicle parked on the highway around 700 metre away and escaped into the darkness. He added that the police seized the two cars.In the initial inquiry, the two accused admitted to loading the drug from Rambhadrampur in Andhra Pradesh and were heading to Bhilwara for delivery. The two accused also disclosed that three other persons, identified as Sunil Luhar, Insaf of Chabra in Baran district, and Jamil Khan of Kota city, were escorting their vehicle.The two accused were booked under sections of the NDPS Act, and an investigation is underway to nab the other three accused.
