Jaipur: Health department has empanelled more than 1,720 hospitals under the Rajasthan Govt Health Scheme (RGHS), significantly expanding access to cashless healthcare for beneficiaries within the state and beyond its borders.Officials said 40 hospitals located outside Rajasthan have now been brought under the RGHS network. This move will benefit ministers, MLAs, former MLAs, All India Services officers, and serving and retired employees of the state govt and state autonomous bodies covered under the scheme. According to the health department, all RGHS beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals as per Central Govt Health Scheme (CGHS) package rates, in line with medical rules applicable to their respective RGHS categories. The expansion is expected to provide relief to beneficiaries who require specialised treatment in other states. At present, around 37.6 lakh registered family members are covered under RGHS. The scheme offers comprehensive medical coverage, including indoor patient department (IPD) services, daycare procedures, outpatient consultations (OPD), diagnostic tests and medicines. While expanding facilities, the department has also tightened monitoring to prevent misuse of the scheme. RGHS, operated by the state govt, provides cashless medical services to serving and retired employees and officers, ministers, MLAs and former legislators across empanelled hospitals. A senior health department official said, “To make the RGHS facility more transparent and efficient, from April 2025 till now, 159 approved private hospitals were suspended from the scheme, with their IDs blocked, and five hospitals were de-empanelled. After due hearings, penalties amounting to Rs 26.1 crore were imposed, of which Rs 25 crore has been recovered. Currently, 65 private hospitals remain suspended, and action against them is under process.” Officials said the department will continue to strengthen the RGHS network while ensuring strict compliance with rules to safeguard beneficiaries’ interests.
