Jaipur: Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma Tuesday said that honest and hardworking officers should be prioritised for field postings, while those facing complaints of corruption, wrongful conduct, or flawed investigations will not be considered for such responsibilities.Sharma was in Barmer to review the policing and law-and-order situation across Jodhpur range districts. Speaking to the media during his visit to Barmer, he stressed that transparent and diligent officers should be given preference for key postings. “We do not want officers who were involved in corruption, wrongful conduct, or poor investigation for important field positions,” Sharma said.As part of his tour aimed at curbing crime and strengthening law and order in the Jodhpur range, Sharma conducted an intensive review meeting with officials and issued several key directives for crime control. The meeting, held in the conference hall of the police control room, was attended by Inspector General of Police Jodhpur Range Rajesh Meena and other officials who welcomed the DGP. Sharma was also presented with a guard of honour at the police line.The DGP reviewed crime and law-and-order issues district-wise with superintendents of police and emphasised coordination with agencies in border districts for effective crime prevention. He instructed officers to resolve long-pending cases swiftly, prevent crimes against women, children, and weaker sections, and ensure complainants are treated with courtesy and efficiency at police stations.Other priorities outlined included improving the quality of policing, tackling drug abuse, acting against hardcore and habitual offenders, implementing the case officer scheme effectively, apprehending absconding criminals, preventing property-related crimes, and enhancing cybercrime awareness and enforcement. Sharma also stressed taking strict action against those filing false cases and ensuring the smooth implementation of new criminal laws.The meeting was attended by SPs, circle officers, and station in-charges from Jodhpur Rural, Pali, Jalore, Sirohi, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Balotra, and Phalodi.
