Jaipur: In a dramatic U-turn, state forest minister Sanjay Sharma Tuesday retracted his controversial statement reversing the timeframe for bringing water from the Ramjal Setu Link Project (RSLP) to Alwar district, from 2039 to 2029.A day before, Sharma had stated that Alwar would receive water from the project, previously known as the PKC-Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), by 2039; a claim that triggered immediate backlash from the Congress, which accused the BJP-led state govt of betraying the people with delays.Sources within the govt revealed that a senior person prompted Sharma to correct his statement to mitigate the political fallout. tnn
