NIA chargesheets 2 in Neemrana firing linked to Khalistani terrorist

Jaipur: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against two Punjab-based shooters accused of carrying out the Sept 2024 firing at a hotel in Neemrana in Kotputli–Behror district, linking the attack to Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala, the agency said on Sunday. The chargesheet was filed on Saturday in a court in Jaipur against Puneet and Narinder Lalli, who were arrested earlier for the firing and allegedly issuing extortion threats to the hotel owners. The NIA said the two have been charged under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The firing took place at Hotel Highway King in Neemrana in Kotputli–Behror district on Sept 8, 2024. Investigators said two armed men opened indiscriminate fire with a gun and a pistol at around 6.10am, shattering window panes and damaging walls. Before fleeing, the assailants allegedly left behind an extortion slip demanding Rs 5 crore. No injuries were reported. In its statement, the NIA said the attack was executed by a terrorist–gangster syndicate involving the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), led by Arsh Dala, and the Bambiah gang. The agency said gang members Dinesh Gandhi and Saurabh Kataria planned the attack, while Puneet and Narinder carried it out with backing of the syndicate. The NIA said its investigation found the shooters used prohibited weapons and issued threats on behalf of the syndicate. They were allegedly receiving funds, shelter and weapons on a regular basis to further KTF’s interests.
