Jaipur: Relief for commuters on NH-48 is in sight as National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued work order for constructing two underpasses and two flyovers at the busy 200-feet bypass junction.Work is expected to begin soon, with a targeted completion date in 2028. The project, under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode, has an estimated cost of Rs 130.65 crore.NHAI project director Ajay Arya said, “The project includes two underpasses—one for traffic from Delhi to Mansarovar and another for Mansarovar to Delhi. Two flyovers are also planned—one for Jaipur to Ajmer traffic and another for Ajmer to Delhi traffic. Once completed, these structures are expected to ease congestion, improve safety, and save commuters valuable time and fuel.”Over the years, the Pink City expanded beyond the 200-feet bypass, which was once considered the city’s edge. This growth led to new colonies, commercial establishments, hospitals, and hotels along Ajmer Road, increasing traffic pressure at this junction. “This project will also provide improved connectivity to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), as well as hospitals and hotels coming up on Ajmer Road before the toll plaza,” an official added.An official underlined the junction’s strategic importance, saying, “The current 200-feet junction is a critical and high-traffic intersection in Jaipur city, facilitating movement between Delhi, Ajmer, and key urban areas, including Mansarovar, Shyam Nagar, and Vaishali Nagar. The high traffic volume and densely populated residential areas around the junction result in significant congestion due to the intermixing of national highway and local traffic.““The comprehensive infrastructure upgrade at the junction will help address these challenges,” the official added.
