Jaipur: Just weeks after a section of road collapsed near Jaipur Railway Metro Station June 22, a new sinkhole has appeared, barely 100 metres away near Pillar No. 148 which is once again drawing public ire towards Jaipur’s crumbling state of roads.This time, sinkhole caved-in middle of road, causing major traffic disruptions. Long delays are faced by commuters and to temporarily manage this situation sandbags are placed around the sinkhole by civic body.Adding to this concern, sewage water has now started leaking from recently repaired roads, creating a stench-filled mess. That surface has become softer which is unsafe for both vehicles and pedestrians. Locals said, this is not happening for first time, every monsoon only temporary fixation is done by authorities.Officials said, sewer line beneath that area is over 50-year-old, and its weakened condition causes structural failures. Civil Lines Zone XEN Dinesh Gupta when reached to affected area, he claimed he had no knowledge about this incident. Residents are now demanding a permanent solution by civic bodies.
