Jaipur: Following allegations of large-scale corruption in the management of its parking lots, Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital has launched a complete overhaul of the system and invited fresh tenders to ensure transparency.Last year, the hospital administration itself managed the parking facility, during which a private individual allegedly collected fees illegally for over a year without any government order or tender. The matter surfaced seven days ago, after which the accused persons reportedly fled.Currently, parking at SMS Hospital is free, but charges will resume once the new system is in place. Until the tender is awarded and a new agency takes over, the hospital will directly handle collections.To ensure full transparency and prevent misuse, SMS Hospital plans to introduce Point of Sale (POS) machines for cashless payments, QR codes for direct online payments into the official account of the Rajasthan Medical Relief Society, digital entry and exit monitoring of every vehicle, display of clear parking fee posters to stop overcharging, as well as real-time linkage with the police command centre, which will trigger automatic alerts if any stolen vehicle enters the hospital premises. The administration will also deploy 18 hospital staff for smooth management.
