KOTA: In Kota, a minor NEET candidate took her own life by hanging herself from an iron grille in her room in Parshavnath locality, just before the nationwide medical entrance examination scheduled for Sunday, according to police reports.
Circle Inspector Arvind Bhardwaj of Kunhadi police station told PTI that the student, a minor, was a native of Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh, and her identity has been withheld due to her age.
The student had been residing in Kota with her family for several years whilst preparing for NEET-UG at a local coaching centre. She was expected to take the NEET-UG exam, which was set for Sunday across the country.
On Saturday evening, the student used her scarf to end her life by hanging from an iron grille in her room. Her family members, who were present in the house, discovered her lifeless body at approximately 9 pm.
The investigating officer reported that no suicide note was discovered in her room. The authorities have sent the body for post-mortem examination.
This incident marks the 14th suicide case involving a coaching student in Kota since January this year. For comparison, the previous year witnessed 17 such cases in the coaching hub.
