Jaipur: A fugitive wanted in the high-profile Nasir-Junaid twin murder case allegedly died by suicide in Haryana’s Palwal district, police confirmed Wednesday. Before ending his life, Lokesh Singla had recorded a video message, allegedly accusing Bajrang Dal members of harassment. Investigators were verifying the contents of the video.Singla was among 21 suspected cow vigilantes accused of abducting and murdering Deeg (earlier part of Bharatpur district) residents Nasir (35) and Junaid (27) in Feb 2023. The case gained widespread attention after charred bodies of the duo were discovered in a burnt SUV in Haryana’s Bhiwani district — around 35km from their Gopalgarh home — on Feb 16, 2023, in what investigators described as an act of cow vigilantism.A non-bailable warrant had subsequently been issued against Singla.Singla allegedly jumped in front of a train on July 5, GRP Hodal Chowki in-charge Chandrapal confirmed. The death was formally reported to authorities on Tuesday, with Deeg Police being notified the following day.The investigation into the broader conspiracy and potential links to organised vigilante groups were underway, police said.
