Jaipur: A court in Bikaner Wednesday sentenced a woman and two men, one of them her brother-in-law, to life imprisonment for murdering her husband and attempting to stage it as a suicide. The case dates back to March 18, 2019, when Sahiram, a migrant worker who returned home from Akola, was killed in Sridungargarh by his wife Indra, her brother-in-law Shankarlal, and an associate named Rameshwar. The court found that Indra and Shankarlal were in an illicit relationship and plotted Sahiram’s murder to remove him from their way.On the evening of the incident, Sahiram went out to watch a traditional dance event but never returned. The next morning, his mutilated body was found on railway tracks. Initially, police registered it as a suicide case. However, two days later, Sahiram’s elder brother suspected foul play and lodged a murder complaint against Indra and the others. Police found that Shankarlal and Rameshwar took Sahiram on a motorcycle ride. They strangled him with a rope and dumped his body on the railway tracks near Narsisar village. A train passed over the body, dismembering it and making the murder look like suicide. The rope used in the murder was also recovered by police. The trial concluded six years later with the Sridungargarh ADJ court holding the trio guilty. The court also recommended compensation for Sahiram’s parents.Jaipur: A court in Bikaner Wednesday sentenced a woman and two men, one of them her brother-in-law, to life imprisonment for murdering her husband and attempting to stage it as a suicide.
