Ajmer: A minor girl aged 16 died by suicide after hanging herself in her room Tuesday, allegedly after receiving intimidating phone calls regarding a case filed by her father just days ago. Police said the deceased’s father had registered a case against four persons alleging offences against his daughter under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.A suicide note has been recovered from the scene of the incident, though police have not revealed its contents. The girl’s father alleges she ended her life after receiving multiple threats on the phone, warning her of dire consequences if the case against the four accused was not dropped.All four accused were already in custody at the time of the suicide.Police said the case goes back to Jan 8, when the girl and her father were allegedly attacked and beaten up by a group of youths who had been threatening her on the phone and demanding to see her. The father alleges his now deceased daughter’s clothes were torn off in the incident, leading him to file a case under Pocso charges at Alwar Gate police station on Jan 9. The four accused were arrested soon after.Police said the family discovered the girl’s body hanging from the ceiling early Tuesday when they broke open the door to her room after failing to get an answer. The body was later sent to JLN Hospital for a post-mortem. The girl’s father told police she had received another threatening call from a friend just before going to bed Monday night.
