Jaipur: A late-night birthday celebration turned violent at a popular nightclub in Malviya Nagar, resulting in several medical students sustaining injuries after a confrontation with the club’s bouncers. The incident unfolded late Monday night, yet no arrests were made even after three days as the police claimed to await medical reports. The incident came to the fore after police began checking CCTVs and questoning suspects on Thursday. The altercation began when a group of students gathered to celebrate a friend’s birthday and allegedly clashed with a family present at the club. According to SHO (Jawahar Circle) Ashutosh Singh, the club’s staff intervened in defense of the family, leading to a heated exchange. The situation escalated when bouncers allegedly began to physically assault the students, leaving several with serious injuries. One student suffered deep head injuries, while another sustained leg injuries. Following the attack, the injured students were transported to nearby hospitals by friends and bystanders. One of the students managed to alert the police by calling the emergency helpline. A formal complaint was subsequently filed at the Jawahar Circle police station by a relative of one of the victims, implicating the club owner and staff in the incident. Police authorities said preliminary investigations suggested that the dispute originated from a minor issue on the dance floor, which was exacerbated by the bouncers’ aggressive response. Police were currently reviewing statements from the injured students and examining CCTV footage from the club to piece together the sequence of events and identify those involved. A case has been registered, and further legal action will be determined based on medical reports and the evidence gathered. Authorities said they were scrutinising the roles of the club management, security staff, and bouncers, with potential arrests pending the verification of footage and witness testimonies. The incident has sparked outrage within the medical community, prompting students to demand stringent action against those responsible and calling for improved regulation of nightlife security practices to prevent similar violent incidents in the future.
