Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage (JMC-H) Tuesday carried out a surprise inspection in the Civil Lines zone and took action against meat shops found open on Tuesday. During the operation, two meat shops were sealed, and nearly 300 kg of fish without proper certification were seized and destroyed.Deputy commissioner Sunil Kumar Bairwa led the field inspection early in the morning, focusing on cleanliness and rule enforcement across the zone. When the team reached Hasanpura Road near the Jaipur Railway Station, they found two meat shops open despite the day being officially marked as a no-sale day for meat.“These shops were not operating without licences, but they were violating the restrictions that apply on specific days regarding meat sale. It is our responsibility to ensure that civic rules are followed uniformly,” said Yogesh Sharma, veterinary officer of JMC-H, who led the enforcement along with the animal management wing.Later in the day, the inspection team also reached the Bais Godam flyover area, where a truck carrying approximately 300 kgs of fish was intercepted. As the fish was being sold without necessary quality checks or municipal approval, it was immediately destroyed to prevent any risk to public health.JMC-H Commissioner Nidhi Patel said, “Whether it is unauthorised sale or sale on restricted days, such violations cannot be taken lightly. They not only affect hygiene but also pose serious health risks. The corporation will continue such surprise checks regularly.”She also encouraged citizens to come forward with complaints about illegal or unauthorised food sales so swift action can be taken.
