Man murdered over dancing on DJ music at wedding procession

Jaipur: A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death Monday night following a dispute over dancing to a DJ during a wedding procession in Mantown police station area of Sawai Madhopur. Police have detained several suspects and launched a probe into the murder.Police have identified the deceased as Vishal Chand (28), a resident of Kota. Officials said he came to Sawai Madhopur to attend a relative’s wedding.“The incident took place around 10.30 pm in the Cement Factory area, where a wedding procession from Vigyan Nagar in Kota had arrived at the residence of a local person for a wedding,” said an official, adding that soon a dispute broke out between Chand and some local youths over dancing to the DJ during the procession.The argument escalated quickly into a physical altercation, during which the accused allegedly attacked the man with a knife, inflicting critical injuries. He collapsed at the scene, bleeding profusely.Locals rushed him to the district hospital, but doctors declared him dead after examination. Police said he had succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.In his complaint, the victim’s father, Ramesh Chand, alleged that his son was attacked after he briefly stopped at a shop to smoke a cigarette while returning from the wedding venue. Based on the complaint, police have registered a murder case against eight named accused and others.Police said a total of 11 suspects, including six named accused, have been detained and are being questioned.Investigators said Vishal worked as a DJ in Kota and was married since 2017. He is survived by his wife and two sons, aged eight and seven.Further investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to identify the remaining accused involved in the incident.
