Jaipur: Kalwad police here Wednesday arrested a 25-year-old man who allegedly used fake Facebook IDs to target women with obscene content and threats.DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad Meena said that the accused was identified as Prahlad Singh. He was arrested by Kalwad police after a woman filed a complaint containing serious allegations against him.“She alleged that the accused was editing her photos, posting vulgar captions, and spreading threatening images showing him with firearms — all through bogus social media accounts,” Meena said.Not just that, he and another man, Ravi Rampuria, allegedly harassed her for four straight days in Feb, forcing cops to treat the matter as a serious cyber crime with intent to intimidate.The complaint, lodged on Tuesday, triggered a probe including the crime branch and technical teams. Using technical surveillance and social media forensics, the police traced the trail of fake profiles to a village in Churu district, where the accused was nabbed. He confessed to creating multiple bogus social accounts to target and defame women online.Police said he also weaponised images — uploading morphed pictures with firearms to intimidate his victims. Several of his posts already went viral, causing panic among many women.Police are now investigating how many more women were targeted by his network of fake accounts.
