Jaipur: More than a month after the mutilated body of a 27-year-old man was discovered on railway tracks in Jaipur’s Sanganer Sadar area, the victim’s family filed a murder case Sunday, alleging that he was killed by family members of a woman he loved and that they staged the murder as suicide.Bhagchand, a resident of Govindpura in Sanganer, was missing since Aug 6. His body, severely disfigured, was found on railway tracks the same day and police sent it to RUHS Hospital mortuary as unidentified. His family identified the body on Aug 23.His brother, Jitendra Prajapat, filed a complaint in a court (istagasa), alleging that family members of a woman that Bhagchand was romantically involved with were responsible for his death. Based on the legal complaint, police on Sunday registered an FIR for murder against six individuals.According to the FIR, the woman’s family discouraged Bhagchand’s family from filing a police report, insisting they would help search for him. SHO Anil Jaimini of Sanganer Sadar police station stated, “It is alleged that Bhagchand was murdered and his body disposed of on the railway tracks. While prima facie it appears to be a suicide, we are also investigating the murder angle as alleged by the family.”Bhagchand worked as a labourer and was staying at a contractor’s house at the time of his disappearance. Police say the investigation is ongoing and all angles are being looked into, including the possibility of murder driven by personal or familial disputes.
