Jaipur: A 30-year-old man died by suicide inside the surgical ward of Dausa District Hospital Thursday, with police saying he was distressed due to marital discord.Police identified the deceased as Ramavatar Meena (30), a resident of Nangal Rajawatan. He allegedly locked himself inside the ward’s bathroom and hanged himself using a towel.The incident came to light around 6am when hospital staff reached the ward and noticed the bathroom door was locked from inside. After receiving information, personnel from the nearby outpost and Kotwali police station reached the spot.Police said the bathroom door was broken open, following which the man was found hanging from a towel noose. He was immediately shifted to the hospital’s emergency ward, where doctors declared him dead.Police sealed the bathroom and initiated proceedings. After the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. The deceased’s brother filed a report.According to police, Meena worked as a labourer and often stayed away from home. He was married in 2008, but there was some discord with his wife, which his family said affected his mental health, and he often remained desolate.Police said the prima facie probe, as per the hospital’s records, showed that Meena was not an admitted patient at the hospital, raising questions about how and when he entered the surgical ward. Investigators are examining CCTV camera footage installed on the hospital premises.
