Jaipur: A 36-year-old man was arrested Friday for allegedly murdering his wife and hiding her body inside a plastic sack at a scrap warehouse in Badarana village, under the Vishwakarma police station area. The accused, identified as Shahid Qureshi, reportedly confessed to killing his wife Farheen (27) following ongoing domestic disputes.
According to ACP (Chomu) Ashok Chauhan, the accused is a native of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and was living with Farheen and their two children in Bhatta Basti. He worked at the scrap warehouse for over a year and a half.
As per the investigation, on Thursday morning around 10 AM, Shahid took his wife to the warehouse under the pretext of a visit. Once at a secluded spot inside, he strangled her to death, then removed her clothes when he was unable to fit the body into a plastic sack. He sealed the semi-nude body in two layers of plastic and hid it around 30 metres inside the warehouse, among other scrap sacks.
After committing the murder, Shahid returned home and slept beside his two children, pretending nothing happened. He later confided in a friend and hinted at surrendering to the police.
The body was discovered on Friday at around 8 AM, following a tip-off. A police team, along with forensic experts, reached the spot and recovered the body. The remains were sent to Kanwatia Hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem. During interrogation, Shahid admitted to the crime. A case of murder has been registered.
