Major reshuffle in HCs: Raj and Madras CJs swap posts

Jaipur: In a significant judicial reshuffle, the Ministry of Law and Justice Monday announced several key transfers affecting multiple high courts across India. The notifications, issued following Presidential approval, come after recommendations from the Supreme Court Collegium.Chief Justice KR Shriram of the Madras High Court will now head the Rajasthan High Court, while Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice MM Shrivastava will take charge in Madras HC. Justice Shriram, who hails from Maharashtra and previously served at the Bombay High Court, had assumed office as Madras High Court’s CJ on Sept 27, 2024.The reshuffle also marks the homecoming of Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma to the Rajasthan High Court after three-and-a-half years. Justice Sharma, who was initially appointed to the Rajasthan HC in Nov 2016 from the lawyers’ quota, has served in both Patna and Punjab and Haryana high courts during his tenure.Additionally, two judges from the Rajasthan HC have received transfer orders. Justice Shree Chandrashekhar will move to the Bombay HC, while Justice Arun Moga has been transferred to the Delhi HC.
