Jaipur: Traffic on Jhalana Bypass moved slowly for around 30 minutes Monday afternoon after water overflowed from the air valve of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) pipeline, which transfers Bisalpur water to the colonies in and around Jawahar Nagar.PHED officials said the problem occurred around 12.30 pm, and officials restored the snag within 15 to 20 minutes. There was no disruption in the water supply in the areas where water is supplied through this pipeline.However, following this overflow, traffic started moving slowly on one flank of the Jhalana Bypass for around 30 to 45 minutes. “It seemed that suddenly there was a shower on a stretch of road barely 100 metre long. As water was flowing out from the top, high-speed motorists and drivers were compelled to slow down the pace of their vehicles,” said Amrut Mathur, a motorist.Engineers claimed that, given the supply and demand in Jaipur at present, the wastage would not have any impact on the regular supply. “We do not promote wastage of water in any quantity, but at present, we have enough water in storage, and the demand for water in Jaipur is also less because of the weather and temperature. The leakage will not have any impact,” said an engineer.
