Times News NetworkJaipur: Lack of daytime demand, insufficient grid and transmission infrastructure are leading to significant wastage of solar and wind power, pointed out an internal assessment of the Rajasthan energy department conducted to determine the extent of the problem and identify areas for intervention. The report raised concerns that the continuous wastage of renewable power could affect project viability, investor sentiment and future capacity addition. An analysis of grid-level data from April 2024 to Sept 2025 found daytime demand shortfall to be the biggest driver in production curtailment (or wastage), followed by lack of transmission capacity, reactive power instability, among others, as factors leading to energy waste.
