Labourer held for attack on fellow worker

Jaipur: City police Tuesday arrested a 44-year-old labourer for attempting to kill a fellow worker by smashing his head with a stone wrapped in a towel near Rajawas bus stand last week. DCP (West) Hanuman Prasad Meena said that the victim survived after timely police intervention.Meena said the Harmada police received information around 4am on Aug 23 about a man lying unconscious and bleeding near the bus stand. A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to SMS Hospital, saving his life. The victim was identified as Bheem Singh, a native of Alwar, who worked as a labourer and slept on the pavement near the bus stand.According to police, Singh had a dispute with another labourer, Pramod Kumar alias Tinnu, over sleeping arrangements during rains. Later that night, Pramod allegedly attacked Singh while he was asleep, striking his head with a stone concealed in a towel. Believing Singh to be dead, Kumar fled.Officials said both men were staying and working in the area for past few months. The accused, who has no permanent address, hails from Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh and was working at sites in Jaipur intermittently.
