Jaipur: Resident doctors at SP Medical College Bikaner and Govt Medical College Kota will go on a complete strike, affecting services from OPD to IPD and other facilities, including the operation theatre and emergency services, from Wednesday. They said the strike would be observed to demand compensation for the family of resident doctor Ravi Sharma, who allegedly died due to electrocution from a water cooler at a hostel of RNT Medical College Udaipur.Resident doctors at RNT Medical College have already been on strike since the incident on June 18. Jaipur association of resident doctors (JARD) and resident doctors of SN Medical College Jodhpur have been observing a pen-down strike for two hours daily from 8am to 10am. “The tragic death of Dr Ravi Sharma shook the state’s medical fraternity. The State Human Rights Commission has sought an explanation from principals of RNT Medical College and SMS Medical College Jaipur,” said Dr Bharat Pareek, member of JARD.Resident doctors have also raised concern regarding discrepancies in two postmortem reports. The postmortem conducted by RNT Medical College board has made no mention of electrocution but a second postmortem by SMS Medical College team has not ruled out electrocution.A delegation from JARD met medical education secretary Ambrish Kumar Tuesday to demand suspension of officials responsible for Dr Sharma’s death, financial compensation, and a judicial inquiry into the discrepancies in the postmortem reports.
