Alwar: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has approved a proposal to rename Khairthal-Tijara district to Bharthari Nagar and to designate Bhiwadi as its district headquarters.Following CM’s approval, proposals will be sent to the cabinet for ratification. Once approved, a notification for the name change of the district will be issued. The previous Gehlot govt announced new districts on Aug 4, 2023, with Khairthal-Tijara one of them. There had also been demands to make Bhiwadi a separate district. By renaming the district and making Bhiwadi the headquarters, the govt has addressed this demand. Union minister for environment and forests, Bhupender Yadav, welcomed the decision and congratulated CM Sharma. “I welcome the decision to name Khairthal-Tijara district after the great ascetic Baba Bharthari Nath Maharaj. Alwar has been the land of penance for Baba Bharthari. This decision will also promote cultural tourism in the region. I commend Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for making this decision, considering public sentiments,” Yadav said.
