Jaisalmer: The picturesque city of Jaisalmer will host a judicial conference for western states from Dec 12 to 14, drawing around 200 judges, including 20 senior Supreme Court judges and Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant. The event will also see the participation of Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan high court, Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, apart from all sitting judges of Rajasthan high court.The conference will bring together high court judges from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, alongside over 100 selected district judges. The first day will focus on a meeting of Rajasthan high court judges, while the subsequent days will feature discussions involving judges from the broader western region.The gathering aims to address pressing legal challenges in the context of a rapidly evolving socio-technological landscape. Key topics include censorship, cybercrime, digital media’s impact, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in judiciary. The conference will also explore digital governance, online fraud, and cyber security, with the goal of enhancing the transparency, speed, and effectiveness of the justice delivery system through technology.Organised by the National Judicial Academy, Rajasthan high court, and Rajasthan State Judicial Academy, the event is seen as a crucial step towards a modern, technology-enabled, and people-centric judicial system. It provides a platform for judges to share experiences, tackle new challenges, and develop a unified approach to legal reforms.Following the conference, many judges are expected to visit Jaisalmer’s tourist attractions, including the Tanot Mateshwari temple near the India-Pakistan border and the historic Longewala battlefield site.
