Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) seized around 230kg of banned single-use plastic and imposed fines of nearly Rs 1 lakh on traders during a joint enforcement drive Tuesday.The action, carried out with the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, targeted factories and shops allegedly storing and selling prohibited plastic items.Officials said several establishments were inspected and violations were dealt with on the spot.Additional commissioner Praveen Kumar said that despite a strict ban on the use, storage and sale of single-use plastic, some traders continue to flout norms. “Strict action will continue against violators,” he said.JMC also urged residents and businesses to stop using single-use plastic and cooperate in environmental protection efforts, warning of stricter enforcement in the coming days.
