Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage is aiming to improve its waste collection system by streamlining the operations of its hopper vehicles. Each hopper will now be accompanied by a designated helper responsible for collecting waste directly from households and depositing it into the vehicle.JMC-H commissioner Nidhi Patel has issued instructions that all helpers must wear uniforms to ensure visibility and accountability, and hoppers must arrive in colonies within the scheduled time slots. To ensure strict monitoring, zonal deputy commissioners and other municipal officials will now spend two to two-and-a-half hours every morning on the ground, checking hopper operations firsthand. The commissioner also warned of disciplinary action if hoppers were found to be overloaded while moving through residential areas, or if helpers were seen picking through waste manually, or if any music other than the prescribed cleanliness jingle was played on board. The municipal command centre is already monitoring hopper routes via CCTV. According to official data, out of 243 hoppers operating on Saturday, only nine were delayed, a significant improvement from July 1, when over 50 hoppers reported delays. The current waste collection coverage under JMC-Heritage stands at 88%.
